- Kapitel 53 -

The fool says there is no God

(Psalm 14:1-7; Isaiah 59:1-17; Romans 3:9-20)

To him that excelleth on Mahalath. A Psalme of David to give instruction. The foole hath saide in his heart, There is no God. they haue corrupted and done abominable there is none that doeth good.

God looked downe from heauen vpon the children of men, to see if there were any that would vnderstand, and seeke God.

Euery one is gone they are altogether there is none that doth good, no not one.

Doe not the workers of iniquitie knowe that they eate vp my people as they eate bread? they call not vpon God.

There they were afraide for feare, where no feare for God hath scattered the bones of him that besieged thou hast put them to confusion, because God hath cast them off.

Oh giue saluation vnto Israel out of when God turneth the captiuitie of his people, then Iaakob shall reioyce, and Israel shalbe glad.

Der Narr sagt, es gibt keinen Gott

Zum Ende, für Maeleth, eine Unterweisung Davids. Es spricht der Tor in seinem Herzen: „Es ist kein Gott.“

Verderbt und abscheulich sind sie geworden in ihren Sünden; keiner ist, der Gutes tut.

Gott schaut vom Himmel auf die Menschenkinder, dass er sehe, ob jemand verständig sei oder nach Gott frage.

Alle sind abgewichen, allesamt unnütz geworden; keiner ist, der Gutes tut, keiner, auch nicht einer.

Sollen nicht alle zur Erkenntnis kommen, die Missetat vollbringen, die mein Volk verschlingen wie Brot?

Gott rufen sie nicht an, zittern da vor Furcht, wo nichts zu fürchten ist, denn Gott verstreut die Gebeine derjenigen, die den Menschen zu gefallen suchen; sie werden zuschanden, denn Gott hat sie verworfen.

O dass doch von Sion Heil für Israel käme! Wenn Gott die Gefangenschaft seines Volkes wendet, wird Jakob frohlocken und Israel sich freuen!
